Balmain Little Athletics is part of Region 8 which is made up of two Zones - Inner City and Southern Metropolitan. Athletes qualify for the LANSW Regional Championship based on performances at the Inner City Zone Championships. U7 athletes that competed at Zone do not progress to the Regional competition. U8 athletes compete at the Regional Championships but do not progress beyond this carnival.
The Regional Championships is scheduled to take place on 4 and 5 February 2023, at The Crest Athletics Track, McClean St, Bass Hill. A list of Balmain qualifiers for the Regional Championships can be found here. The UPDATED Final Program (as at 23 January 2023) is also now available here. Click here for the Regional Newsletter.
The Club prepares a briefing note and FAQs document regarding the Regional Championships closer to the time. The final Region 8 Championship Program (with heat and lane draws) will be posted here once finalised.
A parent or carer from each family is required to assist during the weekend by completing at least one duty of a little over an hour. There are spots to be filled and these can be selected at a time that suits. Please follow the link to nominate a duty.
The first two placegetters (U9-U17) in each event at the Regional Championships will automatically progress to the State Championships at Sydney Olympic Park Athletic Centre on 18 and 19 March 2023. Little Athletics NSW then selects the next best eight clear final performances from across all of the Regions, subject to qualifying standards for some events, to make up to a maximum of 24 athletes in each event.
The parents of all competing athletes MUST commit to undertaking a rostered duty at the Regional Championships.
