The Trans Tasman is for athletes in the U11 and U12 age groups, from both NSW and Auckland. Every second year, a team from NSW (boys and girls in both the U11 and U12 age groups), travel to Auckland for the Trans Tasman Tour. On alternate years, a team from Auckland travels to Sydney. This season the Trans Tasman Challenge is due to take place in Auckland during January 2018.
The Trans Tasman Tour usually takes place over 7 days, during which children get the opportunity to meet with people of another country and learn about their customs, as well as take part in several athletic competitions, culminating in the Trans Tasman Challenge on 15th January 2018.
Trans Tasman Trials for selection in the Trans Tasman Team will not be required this season. Athletes will be asked to submit performances to LANSW so that team selection can take place.
If you want to be considered for selection and for further information go to www.laansw.com.au. A flyer providing an overview of the tour is available here on that website.
Events offered for both Home and Away Tour Trials are 100m, 200m, 400m, 800m, 1500m, High Jump, Long Jump, Shot Put and Discus.
